How do you get your opt-in form from MailChimp to WordPress is a question I get asked a lot.
You’ve got your shiny new WordPress website set up for your biz but you need to hook up your MailChimp mailing list to start getting people on it.
Luckily for you going from MailChimp to WordPress is actually pretty easy and I’m going to show just how easy in this post.
When it comes to getting people to sign up for your list you need to make it as easy as possible for people to sign up.
So ideally you want your form on your landing page, you don’t want people having to click to go to another page to then enter their details. They could get distracted and forget what they’re doing or just not be bothered.
Adding MailChimp forms to WordPress
There are two ways you can hook up MailChimp to WordPress. Either link to a MailChimp URL which holds the form or you can embed the form in a page or post on your website.
I would always recommend that you go for an embedded form because it eliminates that extra click to get to the form and you have more control over how it looks. You can make an embedded form for right in with your site design.

Keep your forms short
In the same vein you want to keep the number of fields to a minimum, email address and first name is plenty.
As the number of fields in your form increases your sign up rate will decrease.
Really and truly you only actually need their email address. I like first name so I can personalize my emails, but it’s never mandatory.
Data protection legislation says (among other things) that you should only store data that you need, so bear this in mind when you’re setting up your sign-up forms.

Getting your opt-in form out there
If you want to grow your mailing list you need to be very deliberate about it and make it a priority.
You can add forms to popups, sidebars and your homepage but, it can be time consuming and a bit of a faff, unless you use my trick.
How to add opt-in forms to Gutenberg reusable blocks
If you’ve read any of my content you’ll know I’m a huge fan of Gutenberg, the WordPress block editor.
One of my favourite features is the reusable block.
As the name suggests, you can set up blocks of content to use later on.
By putting your opt-in forms into reusable blocks, it literally takes a handful of clicks to add them to your content.
So you’ll be able to add them to your posts and pages with ease and therefore give visitors every chance to sign up.
MailChimp to WordPress – the verdict
It’s dead easy to hook up MailChimp to WordPress.
You can either link to a form with a MailChimp URL or you can embed the form in your WordPress website to match your branding.
Your forms should be kept short and sweet to increase your sign up rates, and to give visitors plenty of opportunities to sign up you should place your sign up forms wherever possible on your site. Gutenberg reusable blocks makes it a piece of cake.
